What would you do? Breast Cancer Survivor info

Just another day on the West Virginia Morning Show. Did you know that's the name of us sitting it the studio chatting? Yeah, it is. We still need to change that up on the website but you get the jist of it!

So this morning, I told the story of a friend who gave her dad a card full of money at a restaurant once. After their meal, he left the card and the money on the table by mistake.  She called the restaurant and they said they had the card. She came back for it 20 minutes later and the card was the only thing there. Argh! ...the cash was gone! It reminded me of a story I read of a waitress who found an envelope of cash...what would you do in this situation?


A Texas waitress returned an envelope full of cash to a man who accidentally left it behind after dining in her restaurant. Lizeth Naranjo, a waitress in El Paso, noticed the wad of cash in an envelope on the restaurant’s counter. She ran after the customer but he had already disappeared, so she stored the $138 in a drawer in the back of the restaurant in case he returned to claim it. Richard Rechy, 60, went back to the restaurant the following day with a faint hope someone had saved his cash, which he was going to use to pay off a library fine dating back to his time as a New Mexico State University student in the late 1980s. Naranjo said she recognized Rechy right away and produced his money.

Hans has been to the Maryland Rennaissance Festival before but I've never been--so he was telling me about what goes on, the food, the crafts etc. This morning he told us of being an underaged lad trying to get an adult to buy him a sword. I just found out some interesting info about exercise and how it can affect you in the fight against Breast Cancer!

Officials at the American Council on Exercise encourage breast cancer survivors to incorporate regular physical activity into their everyday routines. ACE officials said it has been showed physical activity helps prevent recurrence of breast cancer and increase survival rates. Regularly exercising has been found to provide a multitude of physical and psychological benefits, including improved immune function, improved sleep, reduced fatigue and cancer-related fatigue, enhanced happiness and reduced stress. ACE recommends breast cancer survivors interested in beginning an exercise regimen to: (Click here for the full listing)
  •     Always consult a doctor before starting an exercise program.
  •     Engage in aerobic activities at moderate intensity for a total of 150 minutes per week or vigorous/strenuous intensity for 75 minutes per week. A combination of both is also beneficial.
  •     Strength training that works the major muscle groups in both the lower and upper body is recommended two or three times per week. This also helps reduce the risk of developing breast cancer-related lymphedema.
  •     Stretch major muscle groups when aerobic and strength-training activities are performed.
  •     Allow time for healing after surgery and then evaluate arm/shoulder mobility before performing upper-body exercises.
  •     Avoid exercising on days of extreme fatigue or pain.
  •     Set short-term goals, especially if undergoing chemotherapy, to prevent loss of interest or motivation. Chemotherapy can cause nausea, which may lead to lack of appetite and then to low energy. Account for these times when you may feel weak in your goal-setting.
