6:15-Talked about Dancing with the Stars... Ilike the show but they behave as if the weight of the free world depends upon us choosing our favorite B-list celeb to be the champion of this competition. I'll admit, I started to watch it last night but saw about 10 minutes and had to turn it off. Please, there are much bigger fish to fry. I know that the B-list celebs challenge themselves and they work hard. I also know that the money goes to a charity of their choosing but I still thing it's a whole lot of hubub for not much. I must be cranky because it got on my nerves last night.
7:15 9The 9 most annoying guests you'll meet this Thanksgiving
Funny, I found another list from buzzfeed that put it into perspective too. Know these people? I do.
8:15 Really? I'm surprised. I don't--but maybe there are people. ADULT ARCHERY
Did you know that West Virginians have the highest rate of adults participating in archery in the nation? I sure didn't. The AP and The Charleston Gazette reports a recent survey finds archery is practiced by one in seven Mountain Staters. Curtis Taylor, wildlife chief for the state Division of Natural Resources, says he sees backyard targets all over the state. And he's proud West Virginians are leading the nation in archery. The last time I played archery was in summer camp at Camp Wabanna when I was like 13 years old. Cool.
Update: After I said this on the air, I got a few calls and people mentioned tha there is a local young lady named Kaitlyn Price who is a Professional Archer. Who knew? I love when I learn neat stuff from my job! Here is some info about her. http://mathewsinc.com/prostaffer/prostaff-kaitlyn-price/
6:15- 942 Calorie Thanksgiving from Today.com. Ways to limit the food you are eating on Turkey day so that you only take in 942 calories. Um, I guess that means I eat celery all day, binge eat at night and limit the wine? I'm thinking they probably have other ideas about that. http://www.today.com/id/21870864
7:15 Yucky Holiday Food:
Every year on Thanksgiving, some relative or friend brings that one disgusting dish you can't stand to eat. What is the one dish you can't stand that Aunt Tina always brings to Thanksgiving? I'm just not a fan of macaroni salad. I'm not sure if it's the mayo, the elbows or the green onions but usually, I'm not a fan. Here are a few websites that named their biggest offenders. http://www.chow.com/food-news/66788/fiv-worst-thanksgiving-side-dishes/
Did you watch the AMA awards last night? Here are my thoughts, in brief:
Pitbull wasn't a good host but he wasn't awful either. I felt like his hosting duties, resembled a lot of his songs. He did the little laugh thing he does and shout outs to people a lot of the time. He's cute...as in I mean handsome.
I missed Miley Cyrus and I'm okay with that.
I missed Lady Gaga with R. Kelly. I think they did some sort of awkward JFK/Marilyn sexualized tribute. I was getting gasoline and when I walked in the door, I saw the last 2 notes of the song. People on Twitter commented about how awkward it was.
TLC performed with Lil Mama (who played Left Eye in their new movie). She took the place of Left Eye on stage. It was okay. The moves were good. She had blue hair.
Ariana Grande is talented and reminds me of a mini Mariah Carey. I hope she stays around for a long time to come. She seemed very genuine.
Justin Timberlake performed. It was great. Every time I see him, I realize how much more I believe he is genuinely talented and a normal humble guy.
Rhianna won an Icon award which she dedicated to her fans. Her mother presented her with the award and it was really a sweet moment. Also, she performed “Diamonds” and it was great. I've changed my thinking on her as of late. I do think she can sing. That didn't used to be my opinion. Good for her.
6:15- Thanksgiving meal is costing us a little less this year. Like $.44 less. Hey, it's something!
Theprice of the average Thanksgiving dinner has declined! This year, turkey and all the fixings- including stuffing, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie- will cost $49.04, down 44 cents since 2012. Experts say we have stable food and fuel prices to thank for the price cut. And speaking of fuel, if you’re looking to save even more dough this Thanksgiving, consider driving to your family gathering- not only do gas prices usually drop in the weeks leading up to the holiday, but average domestic airfare is up nearly 10% from last year, and Amtrak prices have increased more than 4%.
6:45-COLD WEATHER MAKES MEN FRISKY _ If your husband has been coming on to you more and more over the last month, there's a reason -- cold weather makes men frisky. Researchers asked 114 men to rate the attractiveness of women every three months. Peak arousal was between December and February. Researchers are blaming all the clothes we wear. Skin is rarely seen, so men go crazy when they see it.
7:15 JFK Assassination Anniversary. 50 Years ago today was a dark day in our country's history. I wasn't alive then but even so, it was a pivotal day. Over the last few weeks, I've seen a lot of interesting documentaries, interviews, and news stories on some of the people that were in Dallas that day 50 years ago. What strikes me is that days like that one or September 11th are defiining moments in our country's history. We are taken aback, we are in shock, we drop a lot of what our differences are and we come together as a country. It's a shame that sad things like that have to happen for us to do that.
8:45- Friday Toy Memory: Technology...old school style! I remember the P.C. before it was really personal! I recall going to the Computer lab on campus and bringing my big old 3x5 floppy disk that you had to cart along with you. Working on Word Perfect to get your papers done. Oh the joy of computing in the late 80's early 90's!
This is kinda what it was like at the time!
6:15- Holiday Travel is more expensive this year. Well, you could opt to NOT go over the river and through the woods to Grandmother's house but we know that's not an option. Ouch.
If you haven’t booked your holiday travel yet, you may want to call your family and apologize in advance for your absence. Flight prices for Thanksgiving travel are up more than 9% this year, with Christmas fares trailing only slightly behind at 7.3%. So if you’re waiting on last-minute deals, don’t get your hopes up- even those responsible folks who booked well in advance probably paid through the nose. If staying put isn’t an option, travel experts advise avoiding flying on the Sunday after Thanksgiving (December 1) and the Sunday after Christmas (January 5)- since those are the days most people want to or have to travel, fares will be especially steep
6:15- Awww yeah! In honor of this being the word of the year, take a cell phone picture of yourself and post that bad boy on your preferred method of social media. I've got a few myself but overall, I think they are kind of 18-27. Just sayin. :)
6:45- Just so you know, stealing a baby Jesus from the Nativity scene is bound to bring you bad something in your life. Don't do that!!!! That said,
ORDERS ARE UP FOR GPS-EQUIPPED BABY JESUSES _ Thieves take note: Your days of stealing baby Jesus from your town's nativity scene are coming to an end. Makers of nativity scene characters say they're getting more requests each year for GPS-equipped baby Jesuses, Marys, Josephs, Three Wise Men and nativity animals.http://mentalflossr.tumblr.com/post/8178518777/gps-for-baby-jesus
Toy companies are sometimes criticized for separating items by gender- trucks for boys, baby dolls for girls. But there’s another place sex-based marketing is common- the drugstore! Researchshows men don’t want to purchase things that are strongly associated with women- like body wash. So to tap into the male marketplace, companies like Axe and Old Spice started selling body washes specifically for dudes. Instead of sweet-smelling soaps in flowery bottles, these guy-friendly products come in varieties like “Game Day” (although we’re not sure what “Game Day smells like…or why anyone would want to smell like that). This way, companies are able to sell twice as much stuff per household simply by convincing men and women they can’t use the same products, even when they do the same thing. Another great example is diet soda, which is widely considered a “girly” drink. Dr. Pepper recently came out with the lower-cal Dr. Pepper Ten. Ads feature a bear-battling mountain man and boast that it’s “the manliest low-calorie soda in the history of mankind.” http://www.slate.com/articles/double_x/doublex/2013/08/gender_contamination_when_women_buy_a_product_men_flee.html
Today was chock full of information. One side note, after talking about coffee, I realized that we we were running out in the office. Luckily, there was enough to make a small pot...just enough to get me through.
6:15- Coffee gets an upgrade- New beans means better coffee! I'm all over that!
Your morning cup of joe is getting an upgrade! Thanks to a coffee crop surplus in Brazil, the price of premium Arabica beans is on the decline. Smooth, sweet-tasting Arabica beans are usually used in higher-quality coffee blends, while your average brew contains mostly robusta beans, which are higher in caffeine (and lower in cost). But thanks to the price cut, a number of international coffee traders plan to swap robusta for Arabica in the coming year. Unfortunately, you’re unlikely to be able to detect much of a change in flavor, as most brands will be making only minor changes to their blends.
6:45- Ew. Let me just say, "step away from the eels". SPAS OFFERING EEL BATHS
This latest beauty treatment claims to have eel-ing powers! Some spas and beauty salons have started offering eel baths. The technique, which originated in China, involves sitting in a tank filled with tiny eels that help exfoliate your body by gently nibbling off dead skin. But according to health officials, the treatment has the potential to do more harm than good – especially for people wearing loose swimwear. In one case, a stray eel found its way through a man’s genitals and into his kidney! Zhang Nan, 56, had to endure a three-hour procedure to have it removed.
7:15- -What was your first job? My first paid job was a cashier at Kmart. I worked there the summer I turned 16. My parents had to always give me a ride or I had to catch the bus. I remember there was a guy who was like a greeter or something and he liked me. I think we even went out on a date. Anyway, I was pretty young and I learned a lot about dealing with rude customers, dealing with management, and other junk you don't learn when you're in school and 16 years old. FOllow the topic on our Facebook page www.Facebook.com/WLTFFM
8:15- Safer riding for dogs...from Subaru. It's really a great idea. I wouldn't have thought of that!
6:45 These two girls had a cool family deja vu moment. Saw this story in the Journal yesterday and thought it was cool.Did you hear the story of the two very talented Musselman families? Saw this in The Journal, Martinsburg, WV and thought..."That's so cool".
That working lunch isn’t working for your waistline. A survey found that of the 60% of people who eat lunch at their desk either daily or almost every day, half have gained weight. It’s no wonder - 50% say they’re more likely to indulge in unhealthy junk food from the office vending machine when they eat “al desk-o.” These days, only 18% of office workers take a lunch hour every day, down from 85% a decade ago. Nearly 60% say they feel pressure to work through lunch, which explains why the majority take no more than a half-hour break.
The late comedian Andy Kaufman may actually be alive, according to his brother Michael. For years there have been rumors that Kaufman faked his death, but Michael says he now believes it’s true. On Monday, at the 9th Annual Andy Kaufman Awards at Gotham Comedy Club in NYC, Michael revealed during his closing speech he had once found an essay in which Andy laid out plans to fake his death (he allegedly died from cancer in 1984). Michael then said in 1999 a man handed him a letter, allegedly from Andy, in which the former Taxi star explained he had secretly been living as a stay-at-home dad with a wife and daughter. Then Michael introduced a 24-year-old woman who he said was Andy’s daughter. The woman told the audience that the passing of Andy’s father in July made him “want to reach out” and that he considered revealing himself that night, but backed out.
Then...ANDY KAUFMAN “DAUGHTER” IS AN ACTRESS
Barely 24 hours after news hit that Andy Kaufman may still be alive, it’s looking more and more like a hoax. The whole thing started at the 9th Annual Andy Kaufman Awards at Gotham Comedy Club in NYC Monday, when Michael Kaufman said he received a letter from his brother who was alive and enjoying life as a stay-at-home dad. He then introduced a woman who claimed to be the Taxi star’s 24-year-old daughter. But now reports claim the woman is actually Alexandra Tatarsky, a 23-year-old actress. During a brief interview with theHollywood Reporter, Michael wouldn’t comment on Tatarsky, but did say, “I think I've been misquoted, OK? I never came out with, 'He's alive.' I'm as skeptical as anybody else."
Friday Toy Memory: Those little view master thingies. The things you used to get at the beach.

I'd like to participate in one, one day but I worry that if I do, I'll never want to eat that food again...especially if I like it. Here are some of the craziest Ultimate Competitive Eating Records out there. Whoa. http://www.chacha.com/gallery/4373/unfathomable-competitive-eating-records
8:15GIRLS MAKE PASSES AT GUYS WITH ‘STACHES
If you’re sporting a ‘stache this month in honor ofMovember (which aims to raise money and awareness for men’s health), good news- 80% of women say they like a guy with a fuzzy upper lip. And more than half of ladies find a mustache in the name of charity particularly attractive. Women say a ‘stache can give off a rugged, outdoorsy, fun vibe, a la James Franco, George Clooney and Johnny Depp. Those guys could make anything look good.
6:15- 6 Resume flawas and how to avoid them. I've had some friends recently ask me to look over their resume'. I say, the more eyes on it the better. Here are some tips from experts. Especially helpful for those of us who are changing careers or have gaps in employment. Good stuff.
6:45- It all comes back to your parents- Apparently, A newFinnish study that looked at the facial features of a person’s spouse has found that men tend to marry women who look like their mothers, while women often marry men who resemble their fathers.

8:15-Eye contact may backfire on ya! A study found that, contrary to popular belief, eye contact may actually make you less persuasive. In fact, looking people in the eye could potentially have the opposite effect, making the listener less receptive to your message. Experts say that eye contact is often associated with intimidation and dominance, and can come across as aggressive.
Personally, I believe that we have become so used to using technology to interact that we aren't used to looking people in the eye anymore. So we avoid it and it doesn't feel as natural as it used to. What do you think?
Since I know that my blog is getting very few hits, I'll make sure to put the info here but won't spend a lot of extra time typing stuff I know no one is reading. :) If you are reading. Drop me a line at email@example.com. That'd be great and I'll really step it up! Promise.
Here's what I talked about on the air today.
6:15- If you spend a lot of time on the road (or if you're planning your holiday road trip, I've got some tips to help stretch your gas dollars:.
7:15- If you're a mom and you have no idea where to take the kids when you visit out-of-town friends and family? The Mom Maps app registers where you are, then lists kid-friendly parks, playgrounds, restaurants, museums, and indoor play areas in more than 28,000 locations. According to a study, apologizing for things that are out of your control is a great way to earn people’s trust. People who say sorry for inconveniences like bad weather or traffic jams- stuff that obviously isn’t their fault- gain credibility in the eyes of others because they appear to be “taking the victim’s perspective,” experts say. Showing sympathy in this way makes people like and trust you more. If you apologize a lot. It could make you seem more trustworthy. http://news.menshealth.com/the-weird-way-to-earn-peoples-trust/2013/10/21/
6:15- Which Peanuts character are you?http://www.brainfall.com/quizzes/which-peanuts-character-are-you/ I'm surprised. I'm Schroder and it was kind of on target..well a little! This is mine: You are Schroeder. You are brilliant, ambitious, and brooding; you tackle tasks with extreme focus. People don't always interest you as much as other pursuits, though, so you can come off as aloof.
6:45- Wine shortage? Say it isn't so!!!! My weekend is going to be that much worse hearing this news! I say stock up now!!!! Click here to read more.
7:15-A new study determines the best time to drink coffee to get the best "bang for your buck" Even after reading this, I don't know about you, but I'm still drinking my coffee early!
If you want to get the mostbuzz for your buck, drink your morning cup of joe between 9:30 and 11:30 AM, when your cortisol levels are low. That’s according to an expert in chronopharmacology, which studies the interaction between drugs (in this case, caffeine) and our bodies’ biological rhythms. Cortisol, often called the stress hormone, releases sugar into the bloodstream and is therefore connected to alertness. Instead of drinking coffee when your cortisol levels are at their peak- which is kind of a waste- have a cup when your natural alertness levels are low, for maximum payoff.
8:15- APP PREVENTS COUPLES FROM ‘TV CHEATING’
If you and your significant other watch TV shows together, you'll want to see this...
The couple that watches together, stays together…and if you “cheat,” well, you know what that means. Roamio or Else, a newapp from TiVo, lets users send a digital postcard warning their partners not to watch the latest episode of a TV show without them. The pre-formatted postcards feature jokey “threats” based on specific shows- for instance, one card reads, “If you watch Mad Men without me, I’ll drink all your scotch,” while another says, “If you watch The Voice without me, I won't turn around my chair, EVER.” The app is accessible through Facebook or the TiVo site Everybody Cheats. http://mashable.com/2013/11/03/tivo-app-cheating-tv/
Friday Toy Memory-Designer Jeans and all the crazy things we wore in the 1970's and early 80's. I remember when it was so hip to have everything with a designers name on your butt. Gloria Vanderbilt, Jordache, Sassoon, Calvin Klein etc.
I actually have a friend who was in a jordache commercial. Awesome. She's the main dancing lady. Whenever I see her, I bump her in the butt like in the commercial. Thank GOD she's a good sport about it all! Here she is in all her designer jean glory!
A 29-year-old woman in London recently found dozens of poisonous spiders crawling all over the bananas she had just bought!Consi Taylor said she thought the white spots on her fruit were just mold at first, but when she looked closer she saw they were tiny spiders that were hatching out onto her table and scurrying over her carpet! Shesent a photo of the spiders to a pest control specialist, who informed her that they were Brazilian wandering spiders – the most venomous spiders in the world. She was told to make like a banana and split – at least until her house was thoroughly fumigated.
This whole story got me to thinking...
1. Have you ever seen a spricket? or some people call them criders? (cross between a cricket and a spider). Pic on the left.
2. When you see these critters in your home, do you capture and release or do you kill on the spot? (I try to capture and release if possible).
Last night we had elections where I live and a friend of mine was celebrating getting re-elected to office...so I was out celebrating as well and didn't get as much sleep as I should have. Good excuse to be tired right?
Today on the show:
6:15- When you are a teenager, your parents mere existence is embarrassing to you. I saw this funny and so true list of things that are cringeworthy behaviors of parents. Any of these ring true to you? The sexual ones aside, the dressing like teens and all that stuff hit home with me.
I remember asking my mother to drop me off at the side entrance of the mall because I didn't want to be seen with her when I was a teenage. I also remember going to a movie with her and she was laughing really loudly and I was so embarrassed, I asked her to stop because people were staring at her. Ha! :)
Try as they might, parents pretty much can’t avoid embarrassing their kids. A survey of 2,000 people revealed the top 10parental behaviors that made kids cringe.
1. Watching movie sex scenes with your parents
2. Talking about sex
3. Using abbreviations like LOL and OMG
4. Parental PDA
5. Dads who go through mid-life crises
6. Moms who read Fifty Shades of Grey
7. Wearing revealing bathing suits
8. Getting drunk
9. Discovering your parents’ sketchy Google search histories
10. Dressing too young

Another chilly start to the day but a fun time was had on the WV Mo Show!
6:15- Pick me up mood boosters- When the weather gets colder, I definitely start feeling a little down in the dumps. I always need something to make my mood a little better. Here are 10 things that people said help them feel better and life their moods in a recent survey. Check them out here
My favorites are:
1. A hug
2. Seeing friends
3. Listening to music
5. Getting a call or text from a friend
6. Comfort food
6:45- Don't know if you know but last week Oct 29, was National Cat Day. In honor of the day, I've decided to link to the official web page celebrating the day that has tons of cat videos!
Also, somewhere along the line, I mentioned The Piano Guys. Who I saw in concert over the weekend. Very cool.
7:15- Sitting is the new smoking. It's bad for you. Really bad. Who knew? Now I feel the need to get up every few minutes and move around so I'm not just sitting still.Read thisif you dare.
8:15- Beans beans...they're good for your heart...
A man in Britain is so obsessed with baked beans that he changed his name toCaptain Beany! And the name change was just the beginning. Beany, formerly known as Barry Kirk, turned his apartment into the world’s only baked bean museum and spends his days painted orange in a custom-made Captain Beany superhero costume. We’re guessing his superpower is atomic farts. "I am passionate about my baked bean collection and by all beans people can come and have a look around," he said. He even once spent four days sitting in a tub of beans to raise money for charity.
I Love Fridays! I will resist the urge to sing Rebecca Black's horrid song "Friday" because I love ya. Ha.
Today on the show:
6:15--Words that drive you nuts! It drives me up a wall when I hear people mention certain words and phrases and use them incorrectly. For instance the term “Supposably”. I don't think that everyone knows its “Supposedly” but it still bugs me. Here are 17 wordsthat are made up and make me want to scream...or at least some of them do.
6:45- Halloween Scrooge! Oh No She Didn't! Instead of candy this year, a woman in North Dakota handed out letters to trick-or-treaters who she deems overweight. Wow. While this “concerned neighbor” may very well have a point, I think her way of going about it was inappropriate. If she has an issue with sugary treats being given away during this age old tradition, she could have given away something that isn't food related like pencils, pennies, or something healthy. Kids (of all sizes) have been trick or treating for years, so why choose now to almost target the "fat kids"? Why the anger and shaming the kids and parents now? She does have a point about the fact that unhealthy sugary foods are part of the tradition, but to send a note when all the kids wants is a little fun is a little low. If it takes a village to raise a child, make a step by not offering candy to any kids. Who knows, the skinny kids of today may develop unhealthy eating habits later too. Argh. This really fired me up! You can read the letterhere. http://www.today.com/moms/swapping-letters-candy-trick-or-treat-8C11493000
UPDATE: I GOT AN E-MAIL FROM ONE OF OUR LISTENERS WHO SAYS IT MAY BE A HOAX!!! Here's what I was able to scrounge up regarding this story: Click Here!
7:15- Brad Sherwood Interview-If you've ever seen the show “Whose Line is it Anyway” you know how quick and funny these guys are. One of the long time improvisers Brad Sherwood is traveling the country with his cast mate Colin Mochrie in the “Two Man Group” show. This Sunday they are coming to our area to the Weinberg Center in Frederick. Here's the full interview (even parts that didn't run on the air).
8:15- Friday Toy Memory (courtesy of Marc Richards). Fisher Price Little People. Remember these little guys and gals? They were cute and little but all of a sudden they were much bigger. I think someone finally realized that little kids like to stick stuff in their mouths and those cute little people were probably quite the choking hazard. It's like they are super-sized them.
