The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

The wait is almost over! "The Hobbit" is hitting theaters this Friday! It has been 9 years since the last of "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy hit theaters (The Return of the King) so fans of Middle Earth are ready for another trip back! "The Hobbit" was the first book written by J.R.R. Tolkien, but was not made into a feature film first. It is a good thing too, because with the success of "Rings", now Director Peter Jackson and company were able to tell the story they wanted to.
"The Hobbit" is actually smaller than any of "The Lord of the Rings" books, but is being expanded into a trilogy.

The First film: "An Unexpected Journey", comes out this Friday, the second film: "The Desolation of Smaug" comes out December 2013, and the final film: "There and Back Again" comes out Summer 2014.

Many familiar faces from the "Rings" trilogy will show up in these new films including: Bilbo, Gandalf, Gollum, Elrond, Galadriel, Saruman, Legolas, Frodo, and other surprises.

One of the most exciting things about "The Hobbit" Trilogy is how Peter Jackson is going to expand the book. The story is actually a simple children's tale, but Jackson is taking information from the Appendices of "The Lord of the Rings" to make the story even bigger. This will also connect a bridge to the two trilogies.

You can choose to see "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" in 3D, 2D and or IMAX 3D. It is safe to say, after you are done watching part one, you will not want to wait another year for the next one.

I can't wait!
