Don't do the steps thing where you put hot water, dawn dish liquid, and rubbing alcohol together in an effort to avoid ice on your steps. You just create an ice luge.

Speaking of Winter Olympic sports, have you seen the new Winter 2014 Olympic Outfits? They're butt ugly. Period. Fail Ralph Lauren. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/01/24/sports/olympics/us-olympic-outfits-worthy-of-stares-if-not-medals.html?_r=0

7:15- Letting kids in restaurants. Do it or don't do it?

Here's the story: It's t’s one of the most frequently-debated issues: do children belong in upscale restaurants? The chef of Michelin-starred Chicago eatery Alinea recently took to Twitter to ask that very question. After a party brought their crying 8-month-old infant to the top-rated restaurant on a Saturday night, Chef Grant Achatz tweeted, “Tbl brings 8mo.Old. It cries. Diners mad. Tell ppl no kids? Subject diners 2crying? Ppl take infants 2 plays? Concerts? Hate saying no,but..” Responses ranged from people who defended the parents, suggesting their babysitter may have cancelled at the last minute, to those who argued in favor of a baby ban. To dine at Alinea, patrons must reserve tickets in advance, which can cost up to $300, not including drinks, tip and tax. It’s Chicago’s only restaurant to receive Michelin stars, and it made last year’s list of the world’s top 50 restaurants. The point is, it’s not the most kid-friendly place in town. Alinea wouldn’t need to worry about banning babies if people just used a little common sense! Read his thoughts here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/01/13/baby-at-alinea_n_4589263.html

Some of you guys checked in with your thoughts...Joanna said that she is a mom of 3 and that she doesn't think people should bring kids to things where they can't sit still. She also said if she's at a 5 star restaurant she is paying for a nice night out and doesn't want to spend her money or her night off watching her kids or others.

Becky called and said she is a grandmother and that she understands having to bring kids places sometimes. If you're paying an arm and a leg for an expensive restaurant, babysitting on top of that may be an issue. She also said that paying for a ticket for a play or movie for a kids so she won't buy it unless it's age appropriate and they are able to sit still. Both really good points. Becky and I chatted for a long time but that's the jist.
