Today is St. Patrick's day. We all know that we wear green, drink green beer and look for shamrocks...BUT do you know much about the Saint the day is after? I don't. So I did a little research and got this info for you. It's interesting stuff. Here is my St. Patrick's Day book report.

St. Patrick was born in Roman Britain in the 4th century to a wealthy Romano British family, and was stolen by slavers when he was 16.He confessed that he was told by God in a dream to flee from captivity to the coast where a ship would take him back to Britain. It did.In 432, he said that he was called back to Ireland - and explained the Holy Trinity by using the Shamrock. He died in AD 461 on March 17th, which is the date we celebrate St Patrick’s.He became the patron saint of Ireland in the early 17th century. Brigid of Kildare and Colmcille are also recognized as Patron Saints of Ireland.Originally, the color associated with Saint Patrick was blue, but green was used to celebrate his day from the 17th century. He did not drive the snakes from Ireland, as post-glacial Ireland never had snakes.
