Summer movies are getting on a roll now! Two weeks ago we had Iron Man 3, last week The Great Gatsby debuted with success and now this week we have Star Trek Into Darkness! I saw it on Friday and I must say: BEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR so far! The 2009 reboot of "Star Trek" was fantastic and JJ Abrams has built off of that with "Into Darkness". All of the actors do a great job, filling iconic roles, in this sequel. There are some cool twists that happen, which I will not get into, but I think die-hard Trek fans will love it. I also think if you do not know much about the history of Star Trek, you will still like the movie. Very well done. I give Star Trek Into Darkness an A.
I really like Chris Pine as Captain Kirk and Zachary Quinto as Spock. Both do a great job and have fantastic chemistry. The villain in the film, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, is also great. Go see it!
Also, listen to 97.5 WLTF tomorrow morning, starting at 6:00, for a chance to win tickets to Star Trek Into Darkness, as it is the featured movie of Free Movie Monday.
The Summer movie season is finally here, thanks to Robert Downey Jr. and Iron Man 3! This of course, is the third Iron Man movie, but is actually just as much a sequel to last year's blockbuster: The Avengers. If any of the Avengers (Captain America, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, etc) could pull off a solo movie right after The Avengers, it would be Iron Man. It worked too. Iron Man 3 is a fantastic Summer adventure. Much better than 2010's Iron Man 2, which was a fun movie, but lacked substance. Iron Man 3 combines elements of the first 2 Iron Man's, The Avengers and The Dark Knight. It is a more serious film, yet filled with plenty of fun.
Nobody nails his super hero character better than Robert Downey Jr., as Tony Stark/Iron Man. I honestly cannot see anyone else playing that role in the future. It feels like it was made for him. The villains in Iron Man 3 (played by Ben Kingsley and Guy Pearce) are great too. I give the movie an A. It has plenty twists in it too, which I will not spoil here, but definitely check it out.
Want to see it for free? Tune in to 97.5 WLTF tomorrow at 6 as Iron Man 3 is featured this week on Free Movie Monday. We will be giving away tickets all morning, so make sure you tune in!
Summer is just getting started too. Coming up soon: The Great Gatsby, Star Trek Into Darkness, Man of Steel, and much more!
