Is your computer infected? I scream, You scream, you know the rest...and much mo

Hey y'all it's hotter than______________________ (feel free to fill in the blank in the comments).

I read this scary little thing about computers that are being infected with Malware. What I learned is that the FBI will start shutting off people's internet access if their computers are affected with this malware.  Read all the details here...

Is Your Computer Safe?

The warnings have been splashed across Facebook and Google. Internet service providers have sent notices, and the FBI set up a special website. But tens of thousands of Americans may still lose their Internet service Monday unless they do a quick check of their computers for malware that could have taken over their machines more than a year ago. Users whose computers are still infected Monday will lose their ability to go online, and they will have to call their service providers for help deleting the malware and reconnecting to the internet. To check whether a computer is infected, users can visit a website run by the group brought in by the FBI: The site includes links to respected commercial sites that will run a quick check on the computer. It also lays out detailed instructions if users want to actually check the computer themselves.

Oh for the love of Ice Cream!

Summer is in full gear and temperatures are on the rise, so what better way to cool off than with some ice cream? California is the nation’s No. 1 ice cream producer, churning out over 142 million gallons of ice-cold creamy goodness each year. In honor of Ice Cream Month during the month of July, the California Milk Advisory Board surveyed consumers to find out just where the best place is to enjoy some ice cream goodness:

  • Over two-thirds of consumers nationwide eat ice cream, frozen yogurt or gelato most frequently in front of the TV or on the couch (64%).

  • Women are more likely than men to eat ice cream, frozen yogurt or gelato in bed.

  • Young adults, ages 18-34, say they find themselves eating ice cream, frozen yogurt or gelato on the couch more frequently than others (20%).

  • Maybe it’s the drip factor but parents are more likely than non-parents to eat ice cream, frozen yogurt or gelato outside than inside (19% vs. 11%).

A few tricks and tips of the ice cream trade:
  • To prevent an ice cream cone from becoming soggy while you eat, drop a mini marshmallow in the bottom of the cone before scooping.

  • To soften ice cream, transfer it to the refrigerator for 10-20 minutes before serving. A faster option is to use a microwave but be careful of ice cream soup! Place the ice cream in its cardboard container into a microwave set to High: microwave one pint for 10-15 seconds; one quart for 15-25 seconds; and a half-gallon for 30-40 seconds. (Don’t use a microwave if ice cream is in a plastic container.)

  • After serving ice cream, return carton to the freezer immediately to help prevent the formation of ice crystals that can occur when ice cream is partially thawed and then re-frozen. This will keep the texture smooth for your next bowl.

Today is International Kissing Day. Who knew? Read more about this holiday and other interesting facts courtesy of

Pucker Up

In celebration of International Kissing Day, recognized around the world on July 6th, surveyed more than 13,000 of its members from around the globe to gather their thoughts about one of life’s sweetest pleasures – smooching! The results show that while kissing may be the universal language of love, cultural differences abound. Findings include:

  • 46% of Americans say a “French Kiss” is their favorite type of kiss, while only 21% of the French prefer it. The French prefer a single sensual lip kiss.

  • The least preferred type of kiss in the U.S. is an “air kiss,” with less than 1% of Americans selecting it as their favorite.

  • Americans are more likely to kiss on a first date than anyone else in the world.

  • The majority of Americans (52%), Australians (58%) and Canadians (54%) say they kiss on a first date. The majority of Europeans, on the hand other, do not. Only 29% of Germans, 37% of Danes, 47% of Swedes, 32% of the French and 42% of Italians say they kiss on the first date.

  • 59% of kissers around the world (60% in U.S.) say bad breath is the worst offense when it comes to kissing. Other top turn-offs around the globe include: a wet kiss, too much tongue, and a kiss that is too short.

  • The most romantic Hollywood kiss, according to Americans, was between Rachael McAdams and Ryan Gosling in “The Notebook.”

Friday Toy Memory: Glow Necklaces and Jewelry. Remember when you'd get those glow sticks at the carnival then come home and put them in the freezer in hopes of keeping the glow going? "Reliving the magic" I call it. Remember when you put it in the freezer and the next morning you go back to the freezer with the anticipation that it will have kept the glow going, so then you open the freezer door very slowly to see if you see a  glow inside but isn't lit anymore?  Remember that? Good. :) I totally stole this memory from Nicole Delaquil McLeaf...she rocks!
