Free Food on Friday!

Friday the 13th is your lucky day – if you don’t mind dressing up like a cow. Once again, Chick-fil-A is dangling free food to customers willing to make at least partial cows out of themselves. In celebration of Cow Appreciation Day, customers dressed “head to hoof” in cow attire will be rewarded with a free Chick-fil-A Meal for breakfast, lunch or dinner. This includes an entrée of choice, a side item and beverage. Chick-fil-A will give a complimentary entrée to customers partially dressed in cow attire. For cow costume ideas, downloadable cow spots, masks and other bovine-themed accessories, visit Chick-fil-A’s special Web site, www.CowAppreciationDay.com. Chick-fil-A will also have a photo contest at www.CowAppreciationDay.com and www.facebook.com/ChickfilA. Customers can submit a photo in one of three categories: Best Calf/Calves, Best Cow and Best Herd. Prizes include Chick-fil-A cow beach towels, gift cards and catered parties. Customers can upload photos for the contest from July 13th to July 31st.

A 21-year-old farmer’s joke about farming has turned into a YouTube sensation with more than 3.2 million hits in less than two weeks. Greg Peterson of Assaria, Kansas, was goofing with friends and rewrote LMFAO’s song “Sexy and I Know It” to “I’m Farming and I Grow it.” The video shows Peterson and his brothers doing farm chores like driving combines and feeding cattle. Peterson says they made the video for their city friends who don’t know much about farming. The Kansas Farm Bureau says Peterson accomplished what agriculture groups have been trying to do: use social media to show consumers how agriculture works. See the video below.
