6:15- SUPER BOWL SCAMS
Don’t let scammers bowl you over! A pair of con artists were busted for swindling sports fans with fake Super Bowl tickets. The criminals, Damon Daniels of the Bronx and Eugene Fladger of Philadelphia, were nabbed in a sting after selling the dupes to undercover cops. Apparently the tickets were of such good quality, they’d allow fans to gain entry to the stadium (of course, fake ticket-holders would be in for a surprise when they found real ticket-holders in their seats). The crooks were also selling fake parking passes and tickets to Super-Bowl-related events. But tickets aren’t the only scam to beware of leading up to the big game- authorities are also warning consumers not to get tricked into purchasing counterfeitmerchandise. Fake NFL goods pop up every year, and can be tough to distinguish from the real, licensed stuff. Experts recommend keeping an eye out for ripped tags, sloppy stitching and typos.
6:45- TEXTING WHILE WALKING AFFECTS BALANCE
Texting and walking- it’s a delicate balance! Literally…a study found fiddling with your phone while walking doesn’t just distract you, it also affects your balance makes it harder to walk in a straight line.<========== Not to mention the people that fall and walk into walls while texting. Yikes! http://www.cnn.com/2014/01/22/tech/mobile/texting-walking-study/
7:15 Strange college courses- RUTGERS UNIVERSITY OFFERS COURSE BASED ON BEYONCE
New Jersey’s Rutgers University is offering its student body a course called “Politicizing Beyonce,” described as a class that uses the singer’s music and career to “explore American race, gender and sexual politics.” Class teacher Kevin Allred told the campus newspaper Rutgers Today, “This isn’t a course about Beyonce’s political engagement or how many times she performed during President Obama’s inauguration weekend. It’s important to shift students away from simply being consumers of media toward thinking more critically about what they’re engaging on a regular basis.”
But of course, none of this is new. Madonna was the first with a class about her in 1997. http://community.seattletimes.nwsource.com/archive/?date=19970408&slug=2532816 then came Lady Gaga http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1651116/lady-gaga-now-subject-college-course.jhtml
Here are some other classes, you probably
Our regulary caller Becky took non traditional rock climbing class and said she got the chance to rapell off the schools gymnasium wall. --Yeah, insurance would prevent that from happening these days.
