84th Academy Awards Preview

Tonight is the 84th Annual Academy Awards! The show starts at 7:00 on ABC. As you know, I am big movie fan, so this is always a fun day for me. Not sure I am a huge fan of all the nominations this year, but I still think it will be a fun night. I'll predict a few main categories here just like I did for the Golden Globes earlier this year.

Best Picture: The Artist, The Descendants, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, The Help, Hugo, Midnight in Paris, Moneyball, The Tree of Life, War Horse
-It seems like The Artist will get the win here. If it were up to me though, I would go with Drive, but it was not even nominated. Hugo and Moneyball close seconds.

Best Actor in a Leading Role:Demián Bichir, George Clooney, Jean Dujardin, Gary Oldman, Brad Pitt
-I am going to go with George Clooney here for The Descendants, but if I had my choice, it would be Brad Pitt in Moneyball.

Best Actress in a Leading Role: Glenn Close, Viola Davis, Rooney Mara, Meryl Streep, Michelle Williams
-I am going to say that Meryl Streep wins for The Iron Lady, but I would give the award to Rooney Mara for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Just a very good performance and transformation.

Best Director: Michel Hazanavicius for The Artist, Alexander Payne for The Descendants, Martin Scorsese for Hugo, Woody Allen for Midnight in Paris, and Terrence Malick for The Tree of Life.
-I think The Artist will get Best Picture and Best Director this year, but Scorsese is just as deserving for his job on Hugo. Great movie for the entire family to enjoy.

Remember to tune in tonight to see how bad my predictions were! Also, our listener George Pavlik had me thinking, what is the best movie of all time? Like an Ultimate Oscars. What would the Best Picture Nominations be? Titanic? Citizen Kane? The Godfather Part II? So many movies. You can only nominate 10. Very tough.
