Hi I'm Danielle Hedges. I am a born and raised local girl. After high school, I went to Tennessee where I went to college and met my husband. After a few years away, I missed my family and my beloved West Virginia so I came back home. I am a mom to Kacey, Karee and Kaden, they keep me pretty busy. After taking a year away from being on the Mid-day show, I am so glad to be back with you every weekday from 9a-2p.
I know that we don't want to rush the season but the countdown is on..till Christmas. I actually have a snowman that I plugged in last month that counts down the days till Christmas starting at 99. Today it's at 61. My kids get a kick out of it, me I start to have that sick feeling in my stomach of "I have to start shopping" and "where are we going to get the money?" It always seems to work out but, with planning in advance like starting..NOW. I love layaway. It's so helpful, that is until your child says, "I want that." and that is not in layaway. I try to wait till the Christmas Wish books come out so they can circle items and I can get an idea of what they want. When Christmas time comes around, I appreciate my mom so much. She did all the baking, decorating and shopping and seemed to enjoy it. Now that I am grown I see that it wasn't as easy as it looked. It all comes down to making time (in the midst of the crazy)to do the things you like to help you enjoy the season.
It's so funny how some days fly by and others are so slow. Yesterday, with all the things I had to do I looked up at the clock and it was time to go home. Today, I'm like "it's not even 10am yet". There are some days that we wish would go slow like Christmas Day, Vacations, your kids getting older. I think in this fast pased world we live in today we have little patience for silly stuff like waiting in line at McDonalds, getting behind a slow car or a slow internet connection. When those things start to stress me out I have to remind myself to just enjoy the moment. When we take the time to look around, oh the crazy and beautiful things we will see going on all around.
Clothes drive me crazy...don't get me wrong I love to wear them and dress up like any girl does but what I hate is having to decide and take care of 4 other people's clothes. With 3 children that are growing... and growing fast I sometimes find it hard to keep up with all the clothes in my house. I made a smart move about 10years ago. My husband started complaining about how his clothes were folded and hung up and he would wait till 11pm on Sunday night to say, "I need clothes washed," I told him, "do it yourself" and he does. I am soooo glad I made that decision. I have 4 people including myself to take care of and then add in the crazy temperatures that we have had recently and I have waved the surrender flag because the clothes have exploded and taken over our house. One day I will conquer the clothes!!!
So it has been a year since I came back from Maternity leave to be on the air on Saturdays. Back before I had baby #3 I thought my life was all in order, boy was I wrong! My kids are pretty spread out in age which is a blessing and a hardship. Just when you have one going to school...another one was born. Last year at this time I had a 9 year old, a 4 year old and a 3 month old. I never thought I would ever get out of baby world. Now fast forward a year and here I am..back on the Mid-days on 97.5..WLTF. 2 kids go to school and my baby is in good hands. I applaud working moms and stay at home moms. I am blessed to have the best of both world's. I get to do what I love at work and then have good hours to be able to be home with my kids. Thanks for having me back and thanks to my kids for being patient with their mom as she decides "what I want to be when I grow up."
