Okay, the wait is finally over! We have a new James Bond film! And trust me, it was worth the wait. Skyfall is the first 007 film since 2008's disappointing Quantum of Solace. MGM went bankrupt and there were many road blocks for this new Bond film, but luckily it all worked out. Daniel Craig is back as Bond and he does an incredible job in Skyfall. I would have to say it is his best Bond film to date. Skyfall's story involves Bond getting older, M getting older and times changing. The villain in the film is a former MI6 Agent who has turned bad, named Raoul Silva, played brilliantly by Javier Bardem. Villains are important in Bond movies and I feel he did a great job. Probably the best Bond villain in over 20 years.
The film also brings back many classic Bond references and elements that I will not spoil, but it should make fans of the series very happy. Even if you know little about 007, you will still be able to enjoy the film, because it is one of most character-driven films in the series. Another thing I loved about the film was the visuals. It was shot very well in some exotic locations.
Probably would not take small children to the film (take them to Wreck-It Ralph) but should be fine for 12+ year olds.
"I'M GONNA WRECK IT!" That is Ralph's catchphrase in the game "Felix Fix-It Jr". Ralph is a bad guy in the game. He wrecks everything, then it is Felix's job to fix it. Ralph has been doing this for 30 years, but now he is starting to get sick of being the bad guy. The movie explores Ralph trying to figure out where he belongs, but it is much more than that. I have not seen a cartoon with this much heart since the Toy Story trilogy. I recommend taking your kids or your grandma to see this movie too. I think everyone will like it. It has plenty of classic game references that kids might not get, but they will enjoy the film either way. Plus they can learn about some classic game characters. I have always been a big fan of John C. Reilly, and he is great as Wreck-It Ralph. Sara Silverman, Jane Lynch, and Jack McBrayer all do a great job too.
It is a rare movie that makes you feel all warm inside after seeing it. Most movies are not like this anymore, unfortunately. That is Wreck-It Ralph though. I give the movie an A. I saw it in 3D, but I don't think it matters either way. I also just saw that Wreck-It Ralph will debut in 1st place at the Box Office this weekend. Rightfully so. Do yourself a favor and CHECK. IT. OUT for yourself!
